ITN chief executive Mark Wood is to step down from the role after five years, it was confirmed today.
Wood has served as ITN's chairman since 1998 and was appointed chief executive in 2003. He will leave the broadcaster early next year but will remain as chairman for "a period".
During his time at ITN the news organisation launched and subsequently closed down a 24-hour news channel before repositioning itself into five business units: News, Source, On, Consulting, Factual and Visual Voodoo. It now also produces Setanta Sports News, the 24 hour news channel run as a joint venture between Setanta and Virgin Media.
"ITN now has a dynamism, creativity and momentum which will ensure it achieves sustained growth and profitability in the future," said Wood.
