Biography Channel to become 'Bio'

The Biography Channel is to rebrand itself as 'Bio' on January 1.
A spokesperson for the station explained that the change is the final step of a gradual rebranding process that began almost two years ago: "Not only does the channel show biographies, but it is also home to entertaining reality based shows, documentaries, and stories about fascinating people - both famous and not so famous.
"The word Bio is a major part of the branding and is how the channel refers to itself on air most of the time. Our viewers are now used to this and to avoid confusion we felt is was time to bring the last few references to The Biography Channel in line. The changes will take effect early in the New Year and be most noticeable on the EPG and some on screen graphics."
The move follows The History Channel's recent transformation into 'History'.
