A Belgian news crew has allegedly been beaten while working on a report about AIDS in China.
Journalist Tom Van de Weghe and his crew from Flemish station VRT had been in Central China interviewing a number of people about the disease when they were set upon, claims Reporters Without Borders.
A VRT spokesperson said they were beaten and robbed of money and equipment by 12 men recruited by authorities in Henan province. Beijing recently promised foreign reporters free access while working in the Communist country.
