Kate Squire will be BBC Radio Leicester's new managing editor, the BBC has confirmed.

Squire will begin in her new job on April 13.

"These are exciting times for BBC Radio Leicester with the imminent move to new premises and the introduction of state of the art technology," she said. "I am delighted to be working in radio again - particularly at the beginning of such a significant period in the station's history."

Radio Leicester's current managing editor, Liam McCarthy, will take over Squires' current job as editor of the BBC's Open Centres.
