UKTV's Blighty channel has commissioned three original factual entertainment and observational documentary series.
Blighty launches on February 17 when it takes over from UKTV People. The first commission, factual entertainment show My Brilliant Britain, will debut at 9pm on launch night and asks "unconventional British celebrities" including Vic Reeves, Goldie and Danny Wallace about their British passions.
Entertainment documentary Save Our Boozer will, over a five episode run, look at how millionaire landlord Jay Smith leads five communities as they attempt to reinvigorate their local pub. It will premiere at 9pm on April 23, St. George's Day.
The third commission, Made In Britain, follows Dom Joly on a cross-country road trip as he seeks to discover what Britain makes and whether it is possible to restock his home and reclothe himself with items made in the UK.
"There’s nowhere like Britain, and no channel like Blighty," said UKTV director of factual and factual entertainment commissioning Jane Rogerson. "These stand-out series showcase the very best of Britain, our talent and our people in a fun and mischievous way that is sure to appeal to the channel’s target audience."
