Brand had previously suggested that calls from ministers for he and Jonathan Ross to pay the recent BBC fine from Ofcom were designed to distract attention from MPs' own expenses row.
MPs Ann Widdecombe and Philip Davies described his comments as "outrageous" and "typical of this so-called comedian" respectively.
Brand said: "I have decided to pay the Ofcom fine. I'll put it on my expense account. Oh no, I don't have one because I'm a citizen not a corrupt MP."
He added: "I have to write my article on MPs. I must concentrate. Twitter me if you have something that demands inclusion. Kisses till then. xx"
