Ratings Roundup: ITV dominates Saturday
ITV1's Saturday night lineup once again dominated in the ratings last night, according to early figures.

Two episodes of Simon Cowell reality series The X Factor drew in big numbers, beginning with a 6.47 million average - a 36.1% share of the TV audience - for the 6pm show. The later 9.10pm episode pulled in an average of 7.24 million viewers (a 32.5% share), with a series high peak of 8.67 million (40.7%) in the final five minutes.

Sandwiched between the two was Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, which mustered a healthy 7.68 million (37.3%) between 7.05pm and 8.10pm.

BBC One could hardly compete; its highest-rated programme of the night was medical drama Casualty, which had 7.56 million (33.4%) at 8.20pm.

Over on Five, continuing reality series The Farm saw its fortunes take a nosedive to its worst figures of the series so far. An average of just under 1 million viewers (a 5.3% share) tuned in for its 10pm update.

Sky One's own reality series - football/celebrity combo The Match - could only manage an embarrassing 100,000 viewers (a 0.7% multichannel share) at 9pm. On ITV2, two editions of spinoff show The Xtra Factor pulled in the punters with audiences of 457,000 (3.3%) and 343,000 (2.9%) at 8.10pm and 10.10pm respectively.

Overall during primetime, ITV1 was on top with an average share of 32.6% (last week: 32.4%). BBC One was in second on 21.7% (24.5%), with its younger sibling taking third on 13.1% (6.6%). Channel 4 averaged 8.3% (10.2%), while five rounded things off on 5.3% (5.8%).
