Industry veteran Lisa Opie joins Twofour
Industry veteran Lisa Opie has joined Twofour Digital to assist in the development of its MediaFreedom online broadcasting platform.

Opie was formerly managing director of content at Five and has also previously headed up Flextech, now known as Virgin Media Television, with responsibility for Bravo and Living TV.

She will now act as an external consultant on the development of MediaFreedom, which was introduced at the end of last year and has since been used by the Football Association and the European Parliament.

The web-based platform is designed to help broadcasters establish an online presence to host VOD and catch-up TV content, or run live webcasts.

Alongside online channels, the system can also deliver content to alternative platforms, including mobile phones and IPTV set-top-boxes.

"This year digital media will really start to pay for itself and I believe that broadcasters and organisations must be given the right media tools to take full advantage of audiences moving online," said Opie.

"I chose to work with MediaFreedom as it can be tailored to fit any project or budget, and the technical capabilities are first-rate. Consumption of content over the internet is rising rapidly and digital media offers anyone the ability to challenge traditional broadcasting - taking it to the next level."

Twofour chief executive Charles Wace added: "We feel that MediaFreedom has the capabilities to outshine the current market leaders so Lisa's insight, experience and expertise will be invaluable in helping us to expand the platform further."
