Ratings Roundup: Strong start for Sky One's 'Hex'

The 105-minute premiere pulled in an average of 868,000 viewers - a 5.9% multichannel share - from 9pm, despite an especially competitive night amongst the terrestrials.
ITV1 had a particularly successful night with its back-to-back drama lineup, beginning at 7pm with 7.61 million (32.9%) for a Sunday edition of Emmerdale. Coronation Street was the night's overall top scorer at 7.30pm with 11.38 million (46.6%), bringing in a strong inheritance for Heartbeat in the next hour, which managed 9.18 million (35.9%). Midsomer Murders held on to a hefty 8.45 million (23.6%) over two hours from 9pm.
Although behind the entire night, BBC One still put in a respectable performance, starting with 5.14 million (20.1%) for Monarch of the Glen in the 8pm hour. An hour later, Himalaya with Michael Palin drew 7.96 million (30.2%).
Five also had an unusually strong Sunday night, primarily boosted by the film presentation Practical Magic from 8pm with 2.51 million (9.7%). Rural reality series The Farm concluded on a series high of 1.83 million (8.3%) at 10pm, with a peak of 2.29 million (15.2%) coming in the closing minutes.
Elsewhere, Sky One's returning football drama Dream Team helped itself to 540,000 viewers (3.5%) at 8pm while on ITV2, a three-hour replay of Simon Cowell's The X Factor entertained 419,000 (2.9%).
Overall during primetime, ITV1 maintained its impressive lead with an average share of 36.2% (last week: 33.5%). BBC One averaged 24.1% (23.8%), followed by Five on 8.7% (5.7%) and Channel 4 on 6.6% (6.1%). BBC Two was the night's loser with a share of just 4.7% (7.3%).
