Aussie radio show in 'rape row'

An Australian radio show yesterday came under fire after forcing a 14-year-old girl to reveal on air that she had been raped.
During Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O's morning programme on 2Day FM, the girl was strapped to a lie detector and asked intimate questions by her mother.
After being asked if she was sexually active, the girl replied: "I've already told you the story about this," later saying: "OK, I got raped when I was 12 years old."
The DJs quickly announced that they had no idea about the girl's past and had intended to provide listeners with light-hearted entertainment. However, the incident caused outrage among the public and is now to be investigated by police and community services.
New South Wales Community Services Minister Linda Burney said: "It is completely unacceptable, whoever was responsible, for them to not have spoken to someone like the Children's Guardian to get advice about vulnerable children."
Burney continued: "To have a 14-year-old girl come on as a practical joke, as the butt of jokes, where she actually said,'`I don't want to do this I'm scared,' and they pushed on. I found it really an appalling exercise in poor judgment and in very bad taste."
Listeners are pushing to get Sandilands and Jackie O fired from their regular broadcasting slot.
