The clip features scenes of panic in Warsaw as residents seemingly rush to leave the country, before a final screencard bears an image of the car and the tagline "Volkswagen Scirocco TDI. Berlin to Warsaw in one tank".
The video prompted laughter from the studio audience on Sunday's series finale, but a number of viewers are believed to have complained to the BBC, with others reportedly contacting telecoms regulator Ofcom.
In 2005, Clarkson attracted controversy when he suggested that a German version of the BMW Mini should have a "satellite navigation system that only goes to Poland".
The BBC recently denied giving the presenter a "dressing down" after he reportedly insulted Prime Minister Gordon Brown for the second time.
