Steve Lamacq will host Radio One's John Peel Night on Thursday 16th December beginning at 7pm with an hour-long documentary about his life entitled Teenage Dreams So Hard To Beat after the opening line of his favourite song, Teenage Kicks by the Undertones.
The documentary sports commentary from artists whose careers Peel had a great impact upon, including The Undertones, The Cure, New Order, The Buzzcocks and Robert Plant.
After the documentary, live music will come from Underworld, The Wedding Present, Melys, Steveless, Hefner, Graham Coxon, Nina Nastasia, Trencher and Stuart Murdoch, with other acts to be confirmed.
Between 11.30pm and 1am, DJs will take over with sets by Dynamite MC, Alex Patterson, Dave Clarke, Hixxy and Coldcut.
Evening Session presenter Steve Lamacq commented: "Many of the bands and DJs who are coming down are part of Peel's extended musical family - and everyone's been terrifically helpful and enthusiastic in organising the show.
"I'll be anchoring the night but there will be guest DJs crashing the decks and people wandering in and out. We want it to be pretty spontaneous in honour of the great man."
