In a new poll from Online Opinion, Blackburn topped the rankings with 19%, beating current host Chris Moyles, who managed 15%.
The Daily Record quotes a survey spokesman as saying: "Chris Moyles is incredibly popular with the younger Radio 1 audience. It's probably fair to say a lot of current listeners under the age of 30 only know Tony Blackburn from I'm A Celebrity.
"But to those of a certain age, his voice is much better known than his face and represents a golden age of radio, even if it reminds others of Smashie and Nicey."
The full voting breakdown was as follows:
- Tony Blackburn (1967-1973) - 19%
- Chris Moyles (2004- ) - 15%
