Nearly one in five listeners tuned out of the breakfast radio show as its audience share slipped from 12% to 9.8%, the biggest fall on any station in Sydney or Melbourne.
The slump in ratings has been blamed on the public’s outrage at a rape row controversy and comments that host Kyle Sandilands made about actress Magda Szubanski entering a concentration camp to lose weight.
While the show lost more than 18% of listeners, it still managed to remain the number one FM breakfast show in Sydney.
Meanwhile, Brisbane radio announcer Jason ‘LabRat’ Hawkins is being tipped as Sandilands’s replacement should the 38-year-old shock jock be sacked later this week when he meets with Austereo management.
