The DJ, who was confirmed as the new presenter last month, will begin broadcasting at 7am each morning, half an hour earlier than the current schedule.
"Terry had it very easy - no other breakfast show in the world starts at 7.30," Evans told BBC News.
Evans admitted that he is anxious about starting the new show in January and promised that he will "look after" Wogan's legacy.
"It's not like I've been asked to play football for England - which I can't do," he added.
"If I was asked to play tomorrow night then I really would be nervous, but this is what I do for a living so I'm looking forward to it.
"It's my job to look after what Terry's left behind so I'll try to do that the best I can."
Evans currently presents the drive-time show on Radio 2, which airs between 5.05pm and 7pm daily.
