Gabby Logan moves to Radio 5 Live daytime

BBC Radio 5 Live has unveiled its revised schedule for "2010 and beyond", with Gabby Logan moving to a new lunchtime show.

In the biggest schedule shake-up since he replaced Bob Shennan in April 2008, Radio 5 Live controller Adrian Van Klaveren opted to shift Logan from the Sunday morning breakfast show she has presented since 2007.

Running from 12pm to 2pm from Monday to Friday, Logan's new lunchtime programme will give an "essential guide to the day", including news, sport and regular updates from journalists around the UK.

She will also host Prime Minister's Questions every Wednesday, with analysis coming from Radio 5 Live's chief political correspondent John Pienaar.

The schedule will also see Victoria Derbyshire hosting a new two-hour daytime show from 10am to 12pm, and Richard Bacon presenting a current affairs, entertainment and culture afternoon show running from 2pm to 4pm, Monday to Thursday.

After regularly appearing as a guest on Radio 5 Live, Tony Livesey will present his own late-night debate show from 10.30pm to 1am from Monday to Thursday. Every Friday, Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo will present a two-hour film programme from 2pm to 4pm.

BBC News presenter Kate Silverton will take on Logan's old Sunday show (9.30am to 11am), in which she will discuss the key stories of the past week and also prepare for an afternoon of sporting action.

The new schedule will run into 2011, when the station shifts its operation to the newly-created BBC North at Salford Quay.

Celebrating the announcement, Van Klaveren said: "I'm delighted with this quality lineup of hugely talented broadcasters and I'm really excited about the new schedule, which sets us up brilliantly for the move to Salford in 2011."
