CNN promotes correspondent to anchor

CNN's chief business correspondent Ali Velshi has landed his own weekday anchor job.

According to The AP, Velshi has joined the CNN Newsroom programming block at 1pm EST. His co-anchors will be Kyra Phillips and Tony Harris.

He will be followed at 3pm by a new two-hour programme hosted by Rick Sanchez called Rick's List. Sanchez currently presents the afternoon block of CNN Newsroom that Velshi will take over.

He will continue as co-anchor of Your Money on Saturdays and Sundays.
