BBC scoops 17 RTS journalism nominations
The BBC leads the field at the Royal Television Society 2010 journalism awards with 17 nominations across regional, national and international categories.

'News Programme Of The Year' will be decided between the BBC's 10pm news bulletin, ITV's News at Ten and the Channel 4 News at 7pm.

The BBC's nomination haul includes all contenders for 'Scoop Of The Year', with its stories on RBS chief Sir Fred Goodwin's pension, the release of the Lockerbie bomber and the jailing of nursery school worker Vanessa George in the running.

However, the corporation missed out on 'News Channel Of The Year', which will be decided between Sky News, CNN International and al-Jazeera English.

'Presenter Of The Year' will see the BBC's David Dimbleby, ITV News' Julie Etchingham and Channel 4 News host Krishnan Guru-Murthy all in the running.

In total, Channel 4 holds ten nominations, including an international current affairs nod for an edition of Dispatches on the Taliban in Pakistan.

ITV is up for eight different categories, including 'Television Journalist Of The Year' for Angus Walker.

Sky News reporter Joey Jones is up for 'Specialist Journalist Of The Year', while Sky News holds nine nominations in total.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony presented by BBC newsreader Sophie Raworth on February 24 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
