BBC Wales 'to escape flashing rebuke'
BBC Wales has said that it is not expecting to face any formal sanctions after a rugby player lifted his kilt during the broadcaster's flagship news programme.

On Friday, the Scottish club player exposed himself during a live broadcast of BBC Wales Today from Glynneath Rugby Club. A video clip of the incident subsequently became a hit on YouTube, racking up over 40,000 views before it was removed.

The corporation subsequently received around 50 complaints from viewers, while the incident also triggered an investigation from South Wales Police.

However, a BBC Wales spokesman said that the broadcaster is not expecting to face any criminal charges as a result of the incident, reports Wales Online.

Despite stressing that its investigation is ongoing, South Wales Police also indicated that the corporation will most likely escape a formal rebuke.

The BBC Wales spokesman further said that he would be "surprised" if the BBC Trust imposed any punishments as the man's exposure occurred during a live transmission.

The flasher's identity has now been revealed as Keith Davies, a forward at Scottish club side Hawick RFC, who was also recently a pallbearer at the funeral of legendary commentator and former Hawick player Bill McLaren.

Club vice president Alister Pow claimed that Davies is "a great lad really", with the incident being down to the presence of alcohol.

"The bottom line is he is a really good lad and we think the world of him at Hawick Rugby Club. He is a really good, conscientious club man. That was just the drink talking," he said.

"I was a great friend of Bill and it was my idea we use pallbearers from the club and Keith was selected as one of them.

"Bill would have just laughed his socks off at this. He would have said, 'It's cold on the streets of Glynneath tonight!'"
