More than 5 million viewers tuned in for the return of Supernanny on Tuesday night, according to early figures.
The Channel 4 show, which follows tough nanny Jo Frost as she takes on unruly children, was seen by an average of 4.72 million viewers - a 19.5% share of the available audience - in the 9pm hour. A peak of 5.3 million came halfway through.
It came close to beating BBC drama Hustle, which had 5.28 million (21.8%) in the same slot, and easily topped Five's new episode of CSI, which managed 3.09 million (12.8%).
Top programme of the night went to EastEnders, which dipped below the 10 million mark to average 9.65 million (44.1%). Emmerdale was also down, pulling in 7.78 million (40.4%) at 7pm. Holby City averaged 6.96 million (28.9%) to take third place.
ITV1's coverage of Liverpool's Champions League clash with Juventus entertained an average of 5.9 million (25%) between 7.25pm and 9.45pm, helping the broadcaster to a solid lead throughout primetime.
Multichannel's top draw was the 10pm EastEnders repeat on BBC Three, which averaged 580,000 (4.2%). The best-performing original show was Sky One's new Enterprise with 514,000 (3.2%) in the 8pm hour. In the following hour, a new Dead Like Me pulled in 333,000 (2%) to finish sixth place overall.
ITV3 enjoyed a particularly strong night, beginning at 8pm with A Touch Of Frost averaging 326,000 (2%) over two hours. A Wycliffe repeat put in an impressive 339,000 (2.8%) in the 10pm hour.
A controversial Hollyoaks storyline more than doubled the audience for E4's 'first look' new episode, with an average of 295,000 (2.3%) tuning in at 7pm.
