Earlier today, reports claimed that the BBC is planning to axe the station as part of an overhaul of its digital services.
According to WENN, Keaveny told listeners of his breakfast show: "First of all, massive thanks to everyone who has shown their support, it's literally choking us up. Nobody could know the whole story, and we won't until something like March 9. We hope it isn't true, of course."
Meanwhile, Keaveny's fellow presenter Lauren Laverne wrote on Twitter that she is upset about the news.
"Looks like I'm joining that Facebook group then," she said. "Boo, boo and thrice boo. That is all. SAD FACE."
The Asian Network, Switch and Blast! are also thought to be under threat of closure.
