Continued interest in the royals translated to ratings success for BBC One on Sunday night, according to early figures.
Following Saturday's wedding ceremony - which brought in more than 7 million viewers to the channel - Windsor documentary The Queen's Castle averaged a solid 7 million viewers (27.7%) in the 8pm hour.
As usual however, ITV1's back-to-back drama lineup came out on top, beginning at 7pm with Emmerdale on 7.42 million (34.7%). The death of Ray Langton helped Coronation Street to rank as the top show of the night with 10.88 million (46.2%). In the 8pm hour, Heartbeat attracted 8.51 million (33.7%) but figures dropped off to 6.78 million (29.6%) an hour later for Ben Miller drama Malice Aforethought.
Five also had success with the movie presentation of Air Force One, which drew an average of 2.92 million (14.4%) between 9pm and 11.20pm.
Top audience of the day on multichannel was 979,000 (7.3%) for Sky Sports 1's live Spanish Football coverage at 6pm. Preceding coverage of the Tottenham-Newcastle match took second place with 925,000 (11.6%).
Sky One's Sunday night lineup was down notably on its usual figures, peaking with just 696,000 (5.8%) for a Simpsons repeat at 6.30pm. A new Malcolm in the Middle attracted just over half of its normal audience at 7pm, with an average of just 470,000 (3.4%). Dream Team put in a solid 552,000 (3.3%) in the 8pm hour, with 548,000 (3.4%) sticking around for a new 24 at 9pm. Nip/Tuck rounded off the evening with 292,000 (2.2%).
