Jetix (formerly Fox Kids) is planning to launch a new kids channel in the UK.
GXT, aimed at 12 to 17-year-old boys, will go live in Italy on May 1st. Should it prove popular, a UK debut will follow soon after.
GXT's programme lineup includes reality shows, extreme sports, wrestling, Japanese animation, music and live-action.
"We really want to see if there is a gap in that market and we can try it out in the Italian market cost efficiently to see if it works," Paul Taylor, Jetix Europe CEO, told Broadcast.
"Once we've seen how successful it is in Italy then we will make a decision as to whether or not to bring it to the UK. We would also have to look at the economics over here."
