Evans replaced Wogan in January, but has since been said to be unhappy with the show's progress.
Wogan has now taken to his blog to urge his fans to give Evans more time to settle in.
"I asked all Togs [Wogan's fans] to welcome Chris with open minds and hearts, and I know that they have," he wrote. "They know better than most that it took me years and years to build a loyal audience."
He added: "Chris has had six weeks! I'm trying to build a new audience myself on a Sunday morning... Give us a chance."
