Each day during the election campaign, Digital Spy will be tracking the performance of the major news broadcasters. Check in daily for a roundup of the latest ratings for the terrestrial news programmes and the rolling news channels.
Overnight data for Monday, April 18 follows.
Terrestrials: Summary
ITV's Early Evening News was the most-watched national bulletin of the day, with an average of 4.56 million (25.2%) from 6.30pm. Marginally behind was BBC One's 6pm bulletin on 4.31 million (25.1%). The Ten dominated late night news however, with 4.01 million (20.6%) versus ITV1's 2.21 million (15.5%).
Channel 4's first primetime election documentary proved a turn-off for viewers, however. Election Unspun: How to Win Power had just 504,000 (2.15%) in the 8pm hour.
News Channels: Summary
Week three of the campaign saw Sky News take a convincing lead over BBC News 24, particularly so during primetime (full breakdown below). The channel had the top audience of the day for its Nine O'Clock News with an average of 60,000 (0.39%). It also performed exceptionally between 10.30pm and 11pm, with an average of 56,000 (0.52%) versus News 24's 4,000 (0.04%).
During the daytime, Sky held a steady 57,000 (1.19%) between 1pm and 5pm. News 24 had 34,000 (0.7%) ovet the same period.
