World wide superstars the Bee Gees are to perform their only concert of 2001 exclusively for BBC Radio 2.
Recorded on Tuesday 20th March at the BBC’s Radio Theatre, London in front of an audience of 300, the concert can be heard on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday 31st March between 8.00-9.00pm.
James Moir, Controller, BBC Radio 2 says: "I am delighted that the Bee Gees will be playing this exclusive concert for Radio 2, in what will be their only live concert of the year. It seems an obvious place for one of the world’s most successful recording artists to perform for the country’s most listened to radio station."
Brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb will perform a full set, mixing old classics with tracks from their long awaited forthcoming album This Is Where I Came In.
With a repertoire covering over 30 years - including such classics as Massachussetts, Jive Talkin’, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever, Tragedy and You Win Again - the Bee Gees have sold nearly 110 million albums worldwide, with their soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever notching up 25 million sales. Their material has also been irresistible to other performers, with artists as diverse as Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Take That, Boyzone and Janis Joplin recording successful cover versions of Bee Gees songs.
