Each day during the election campaign, Digital Spy will be tracking the performance of the major news broadcasters. Check in daily for a roundup of the latest ratings for the terrestrial news programmes and the rolling news channels.
Overnight data for Saturday, April 23 follows.
Terrestrials: Summary
Appetite for news programming was lacklustre on Saturday, with a top audience of just 3.21 million (16.2%) awarded to BBC One's bulletin at 9.55pm. Five News put in a strong showing at 9.05pm with 1.14 million (5.4%) over 20 minutes.
Once again Channel 4's election coverage failed to hit the right spot. Krishnan Guru Murthy's Election Unspun: What They'll Never Tell You enlightened only 706,000 (3.7%) between 7pm and 8.30pm.
News Channels: Summary
As usual, News 24 led the Saturday ratings with a peak audience of 108,000 (1.16%) for its 6pm bulletin. The audience remained above 40,000 for most of the day but dipped below the 30,000 mark during primetime.
Sky News struggled, meanwhile, with an average of just 25,000 during the day and a peak of 49,000 (1.99%) for Sunrise.
