The music show, which aired on BBC Radio 1 during the 1990s, will return for a one-off special on the digital-only station from 6pm to 9pm on April 2.
After first launching in 1991, the Evening Session went on to champion bands such as Blur, Oasis and Radiohead. The show featured a mix of live sessions and interviews, including a swearword-heavy appearance by Liam and Noel Gallagher in 1997.
During the new one-off special, Lamacq and Whiley will select their favourite live tracks from the programme's archives and also discuss the current music scene.
"I jumped at the chance to work with Jo again, because we both have slightly different visions of what pop music is, but they seem to complement each other. Plus, if you make a mistake, you have someone to cover for you!" said Lamacq.
"We'll be revisiting some of the music, interviews and sessions from the '90s which we covered the first time around - people like Blur, Oasis and Radiohead - while also showcasing bands and tracks we're excited about now."
Whiley added: "I'm looking forward to being back on air with Steve on a show that is really close to my heart.
"Being reunited with my radio partner after all these years will be a lot of fun and will bring back memories for not just us but the people who grew up with us too. Plus it'll be fun to see how many we got right and how much we got wrong."
BBC 6 Music controller Bob Shennan said that the digital station, which is facing closure under BBC plans, is the "perfect place" to revive the partnership of Whiley and Lamacq that is so "intrinsically linked" to the UK music scene.
