The former That's Life! host, who appeared on ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! in 2008, stood as an independent candidate for the seat after disgraced Labour incumbent Margaret Moran stood down.
However, Labour's new candidate Gavin Shuker secured 14,725 votes to earn a majority of 2,329 over Conservative candidate Nigel Huddleston. Liberal Democrat candidate Qurban Hussain received 9,567 votes to come in third place.
Despite Rantzen waging an active campaign as an anti-sleaze candidate, she polled just 1,872 votes, constituting a 4.4% overall share.
Moran left the Luton South seat following criticism over her expenses, including a notorious claim of £22,500 to fix dry rot in her second home.
