The anchor, who was forced to cut to a commercial break yesterday after a protester called for her sacking, has been criticised for the way she conducted an interview with political campaigner David Babbs.
"Your views are not going to sway the people that are talking behind closed doors, the public have voted for a hung parliament," she told him. "We have got exactly what we voted for, so you marching down past Westminster today will make no difference whatsoever. Why don't you just go home? Why don't you go home and watch it on Sky News?"
Babbs last night stated: 'Maybe Kay Burley is familiar with our work. You would have to ask her why she was so riled and why she ran the interview in the way she did."
'Sack Kay Burley' is now trending on Twitter, and users on Digital Spy have also expressed their anger.
RampantJelly said: "She's supposed to report the news, not bully and heckle the people making it. How she loves her own opinions - I don't think she drew breath there, just kept mouthing to stop him getting a word in."
However, Vellum argued: "She was playing devil's advocate, that's what she is paid to do, she is a Labour supporter and Gordon Brown fan."
Burley was embroiled in similar controversy when she reduced Peter Andre to tears in another interview earlier this year.
