ITV's director of television Peter Fincham has been handed responsibility for the broadcaster's marketing budget, as ITV also searches for a new chief technology officer.

The marketing change comes as Rupert Howell, ITV's managing director of brand and commercial, prepares to leave his post at the end of this month.

Alongside his core responsibilities, Fincham will also take on ITV's multi-million pound marketing budget, with ITV group marketing director David Pemsel reporting directly to him, reports The Guardian.

ITV's commercial operations will be handled by Fru Hazlitt, who joined the broadcaster last month in the new role of managing director of commercial and online.

Adam Crozier, ITV's chief executive, and ITV chairman Archie Norman are now searching for an executive to oversee another newly created role of chief technology officer (CTO).

The position, which will report directly to Crozier, will encompass technology and platform development for all of ITV's broadcast and transmission operations.

It is being viewed as an integral part of ITV's efforts to develop its multiplatform business towards unlocking new revenue streams beyond traditional advertising.

However, the CTO's responsibilities will not clash with ITV's director of corporate development and strategy Carolyn Fairbairn, who will continue to handle multiplatform distribution deals and IPTV venture Project Canvas.

Yesterday, Crozier announced that ITV Studios managing director Lee Bartlett will leave the broadcaster next month after the appointment of Channel 4's director of content Kevin Lygo to lead ITV's production business.
