Discovery plans mixed genre HD channel

The 24-hour station, which has the working title 'Discovery HD Theatre', will feature a mix of culture, travel, history, wildlife and lifestyle programming.
"Discovery wants to be seen as the home of high definition when it comes to real world factual programming," Don Baer, senior executive vice president for strategy and development of Discovery Communications, told the magazine. "It is our intention to be the most respected in the area."
Meanwhile, the network has announced that it will launch a HD network in Germany and Austria on November 19.
