England scores for BBC One

More than 8 million viewers tuned in for England's latest World Cup qualifier last night (Wednesday).
BBC One's coverage of the game against Northern Ireland, which saw Eriksson's squad suffer a 1-0 defeat, averaged a hefty 8.44 million (37.4%) between 7.30pm and 10pm.
The match ranked number one for the day, pushing the usual topper, Coronation Street, to second with 8.27 million (39.7%). Emmerdale had 7.28 million (40.4%) for third, while The Bill finished sixth with 4.7 million (20.5%).
Supernanny continued to deliver the goods for Channel 4, averaging 4.16 million (18%) in the 9pm hour, more than double the 2.08 million (9.5%) who watched ITV1's special Smarter Than Your Kids?.
In the 10pm hour, Lost kept up the pace with an average of 3.94 million (22.7%). E4's premiere of the next episode brought in 967,000 (14.3%) at 11pm, taking first place amongst the multichannels.
Elsewhere, ITV2's presentation of X-Men held 341,000 (3.5%) from 10pm, topping Sky One's Back To The Future, which had 161,000 (1.2%).
