6 million line 'Avenue of the Stars'

A peak of more than 6 million viewers tuned in to see the opening of the British version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame last night (Sunday).
Avenue of the Stars attracted an average of 5.17 million (24%) between 8pm and 11pm. Although a respectable audience, BBC One fared better with 6.58 million (27.9%) for Monarch of the Glen and a colossal 8.2 million (34.5%) for Waking The Dead.
Coronation Street was the day's top performer with 9.68 million (42.6%), while Emmerdale had to settle for third place with 6.84 million (33.2%).
Channel 4 had a lacklustre evening, peaking with 1.61 million (6.8%) for Bremner, Bird and Fortune in the 8pm hour. Five, meanwhile, entertained 1.96 million (9.4%) with the premiere of Legally Blonde and on BBC Two, Ray Mears' Bushcraft held 2.35 million (10%).
Live coverage of the game between Liverpool and Man United won the day in multichannel homes, drawing an average of 1.12 million (18.1%) to Sky Sports 1 between 11am and 2.30pm.
A repeat of The X Factor took second place with an average of 973,000 (6%) for ITV2 in the 8pm hour and on E4 at 9pm, a Lost encore drew 453,000 (2.7%).
On Sky One, the second series premiere of Hex had a respectable 401,000 (2.4%) in the 9pm hour but fell short of last year's opener, whivh managed 868,000 (5.9%).
