Pickard stays put at ITV

Nigel Pickard has decided to stay on as director of programmes at ITV, Broadcast said today.
Pickard's position, which he has held for three years, was placed in doubt last month after Simon Shaps was brought in above him to fill the newly-created role of 'Director of Television'.
Although he came under fire for a string of "poxy" flops, including Celebrity Wrestling and Celebrity Love Island, Pickard is now apparently "keen to take credit" for a strong autumn schedule, which includes ratings blockbusters such as The X Factor and Gameshow Marathon.
The decision is expected to trigger a radical shakeup of ITV's commissioning department.
