UKTV 'tests water' for sports channel
Published Friday, Oct 7 2005, 16:32 BST | By Neil Wilkes

The broadcaster is launching a new sports programme, the confusingly-titled UKTV Sport, on youth-oriented station UKTV G2 next Saturday, October 15.
The 10-part series, fronted by Denise Lewis, will "actively encourage viewers to get involved in a wide range of sporting activities".
The Media Guardian reported today that the strand is being used as a testbed ahead of a full channel launch in the near future. Denying the story, a spokeswoman told Digital Spy that a dedicated sports channel was "not even on the cards" but that UKTV would look at ways of expanding its sports programming if the strand proves popular.
