Big Brother producers Endemol are planning to launch two channels for mobile phones.
The company, which is creating a "prototype division" named Endemol Mobile, intends to launch an Extreme Reality Channel and a Comedy Channel. The new Mobile division will be charged with producing original content for mobile phones.
"This is all about new ways of entertaining people. It doesn't make us a channel owner in the conventional TV sense - the plan is to work with commercial partners to bring our archive to mobile phone users," said Peter Bazalgette, Endemol's chief creative officer. "And Endemol Mobile is a resource designed to create tailor made content for both mobile and broadband. We plan to establish this new division in the UK first and then replicate it across the international group."
