TalkSport has hired Sky Sports News presenter Sam Matterface and QPR manager Neil Warnock for its coverage of the new football season.

Matterface, who has worked at Sky Sports News since 2007, joins TalkSport as the station prepares to kick off its Premier League coverage tomorrow, reports The Guardian.

He will act as lead commentator on the UTV-owned station's allocation of 64 live Premier League games, double the quantity that it had last season.

Former Crystal Palace manager Warnock will be a pundit on the newly-created show Sunday Exclusive, which will air between midday and 4pm every Sunday to showcase the station's new lunctime kick offs.

Last February, the BBC lost a third of its live Premier League radio matches after TalkSport secured exclusive rights to late Saturday afternoon and early Sunday kick-offs.

The BBC managed to secure 128 games, well under the 192 that it broadcast last season.

Absolute Radio picked up the remaining pack of 32 games as the commercial station tries to diversify its music and entertainment roster.
