History Channel planning HD service

Line of Fire

The History Channel is planning to launch a HD service early next year, according to Broadcast this week.

The broadcaster is already gathering HD content for the station, such as its Line of Fire series, but is unlikely to be ready in time for the launch of Sky HD in April.

National Geographic has confirmed it will launch a service as part of Sky's HD package; other third party broadcasters prepping HD content include Discovery and MTV.
