Ofcom considers sponsorship green-light
Published Tuesday, Feb 7 2006, 15:04 GMT | By James Welsh
Ofcom is considering allowing entire TV stations, not just particular programmes, to be sponsored by advertisers.
Currently, particular programmes are allowed to be sponsored. A planned revision to Ofcom's Broadcasting Code would, for the first time, lift restrictions that ban sponsorship being extended to an entire channel.
An official consultation has been launched and may be viewed at the regulator's website.
