Endemol to produce content for BT VOD

Big Brother firm Endemol is to produce content for BT's forthcoming video-on-demand service.
The service, launching nationwide this Autumn, will essentially be a broadband-powered 'add-on' to DTT: a special set-top box, manufactured by Philips, will allow customers to watch DTT channels through their aerial and access a whole host of on-demand film, music and TV content from BT. Interactive and communicative elements will also be built into the service, for which a monthly subscription will not be madatory.
Endemol will develop tailor-made content for BT, including "high quality" programming and "compelling" interactive applications.
"We are delighted to be working with Endemol," said Dan Marks, chief executive of TV services at BT Retail. "We look forward to collaborating to bring their great programming to our customers and to add an interactive element enabled by our new and highly-advanced platform that we believe will extend its appeal and develop new commercial opportunities."
