The BBC faced new criticism today over its plans to move Question Time's production team to Glasgow.

A report in The Times alleged that the broadcaster would be spending thousands shuttling staff between Scotland and London to brief presenter David Dimbleby, who will remain in the capital.

The BBC has denied the newspaper's claims that four producers would be flown to and from Glasgow and be put up in hotels, insisting that only one member of staff will move between the two bases.

Dimbleby has been outspoken in his comments about the proposed move up North, commenting: "It's like trying to report on Hollyrood from London. You have to be around the swirl of Westminster life and have access to the highest political levels."

Question Time, produced by Mentorn, is currently based at Hammersmith.
