Fever Media will be managed by David Mortimer and Richard Hopkins. Their recent work includes Strictly Come Dancing and Dragons' Den.
Sony has recently expressed an interest in making new television output and developing capacity to do so. Sony BMG chairman Rod Stringer said this venture will make them a "multi-dimensional entertainment company".
Mortimer has been at the BBC for 15 years. For the last three, as head of factual entertainment, he has lead the corporation's expansion into the US.
Hopkins has spent three years in format entertainment.
