Matthew Johns has decided to pursue a career in radio.
The 39-year-old Australian former rugby league player, who left his role as the presenter of The Footy Show in 2009 following his group sex scandal, has accepted a hosting position on radio channel Triple M.
According to AAP, Johns will appear on morning show Grill from 6am until 9am on weekdays alongside Gus Worland and fellow sports star Mark Geyer.
The Seven Network recently announced that The Matty Johns Show would not be returning in 2011.
Johns, who used to play for the Cronulla Sharks, admitted in 2009 that he took part in a group sex session with a 19-year-old New Zealand woman in 2002, along with 11 other unnamed team mates.
He insisted that the act was consensual, but the woman was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and is still receiving counselling.
At the time of the scandal, Johns apologised to his family, saying: "It has put [them] through enormous anguish and embarrassment and it has once again. For that I can't say sorry enough."
