The Australian radio personality, who left co-host Jackie O to present their morning show on Austereo alone because he had "no voice", said that he only came back to work because his boss threatened to stop his pay.
Sandilands told listeners: "The only reason I'm back is that Austereo threatened me with financial loss. I'm back at work even though the voice is not better - because an email from the general manager said they'd stop paying me."
The star caused controversy earlier this week when he failed to turn up for work but was then spotted cruising around Sydney harbour on a yacht with Brian McFadden and later dining with friends.
Jackie O was said to be angry with Sandilands for pulling 'sickies' and used the word "a**ehole" to describe her colleague on Tuesday. A radio producer later admitted that "it's obviously harder for her" when Sandilands is not around to co-host the show.
Last year, Sandilands regularly called in sick due to "exhaustion" and "glandular fever" and was even hospitalised with high blood pressure. At the time, the station manager believed to have made the financial threat to the DJ this week said that he was "happy" for Sandilands to have time off and was "concerned" that he wasn't well.
