New al-Jazeera channel aims for June launch
Published Wednesday, Apr 12 2006, 23:28 BST | By Neil Wilkes

The English-language station was due to launch at the start of this year but "technical reasons" - believed to be related to HD delivery - have pushed it back by several months. Some rumours have even suggested that it could be 2007 before the channel makes it to air.
"If there are no problems we could be on air before the World Cup - if there are then we will have delays," said al-Jazeera MD Nigel Parsons. "But we will definitely start transmission this year."
The channel, which has the likes of Sir David Frost and Rageh Omaar on its books, will be available in the UK via Freesat and broadband. Carriage in the US has yet to be secured.
