TCM confirms spinoff channel launch
Published Wednesday, Apr 19 2006, 19:30 BST | By Neil Wilkes

TCM2, a spinoff channel focusing on "core" library movies, had been expected to launch at the end of the year but will now debut on Tuesday, May 2.
Similar to FilmFour's strategy with FilmFour Weekly, TCM2 will operate a fixed schedule that repeats every day for one week between the broadcast hours of 7pm and 3am. Launch week highlights include The Wizard Of Oz and Hitchcock's North By Northwest.
"By selecting 3 or 4 movies per week, we will be showing the very best titles in our library and giving the audience an opportunity to watch the titles on a day that suits them," explained a spokesman. "Moreover it will also attract new audiences who have yet to experience the original glamour of Hollywood’s golden era."
TCM2 will be available on Sky channel 320.
