Michael Carrington has been appointed creative director at CBeebies, the BBC confirmed today.

"Michael has unparalleled understanding of the UK and international children's markets, as well as a huge intuitive understanding of the programmes which children will enjoy," said BBC Children's controller Richard Deverell. "He will bring a wealth of experience, coupled with creative flair to his leadership of the CBeebies brand."
