The new deal, billed as the SPL's "biggest ever", runs through the end of the 2009/10 season and is worth £54.5 million over four years. The figure is just shy of £20 million more than the previous contract.
As well as the current 38 live games a season, Setanta will also air 22 games a season between non-Old Firm clubs.
“It is no secret that a number of our clubs have faced a tough time financially," said Lex Gold, executive chairman of the SPL. "This £54.5 million deal is the biggest in the history of Scottish football and provides a very welcome boost for our clubs. It also answers the call from supporters for more coverage of games that do not involve the Old Firm."
Setanta Sports 1 will move to a full seven days per week schedule this summer ahead of the new season.
