George Lamb moves to TalkSport

Former BBC 6 Music DJ George Lamb is to join TalkSport to present a new weekend evening programme featuring sport and celebrity chat.

Starting this Sunday, The George Lamb Show will reunite Lamb with his former 6 music sidekick Marc Hughes, and feature guests such as James Corden, Rio Ferdinand and Boris Becker. The programme will run from 9pm until midnight every Saturday and Sunday.

Lamb becomes the latest high-profile presenter to join TalkSport after the station signed Richard Keys and Andy Gray in February following their sacking by Sky Sports.

Discussing his move, Lamb said: "Marc and I are super-hyped about our new show. We both love talking, we love sport and, a la Charlie Sheen, we love 'winning' so, as you can imagine, we're thrilled to be joining the most exciting thing happening in radio at the moment. Everyone's talking about TalkSport and it's great to be part of that buzz."

TalkSport programme director Moz Dee added: "George is a real talent, he has a passion for radio and I think he'll be a terrific fit for us. I've seen the lineup of guests that are planned and it's very exciting."

Lamb, the son of actor Larry Lamb, started his radio career on 6 Music in 2007 and was named 'Rising Star' in 2008 at the Sony Radio Academy awards.

However, his laddish presenting style was often criticised by listeners to the station, some of whom even launched an online petition to have him removed.

Lamb's notoriously uncomfortable interview with the Kinks singer Ray Davies was described by Paul Gambaccini as the "worst interview in the history of broadcasting".

The DJ left BBC 6 Music last June to concentrate on his TV work, including Big Brother's Little Brother on E4 and BBC Three's Celebrity Scissorhands.
